Two men barely escaped with their lives last night after a vehicle they were travelling in plunged into the Kingston Harbour.

It is understood that the men were travelling in a Pajero Sports Utility Vehicle along Norman Manley Boulevard in Kingston, when the SUV hit a concrete light post on the median in the vicinity of Rae Town.

The car then reportedly travelled some 35 to 40 metres before plunging into the harbour.

One of the men was able to escape the vehicle before it hit the water.

The other man had to be rescued by a boat.

He was pulled to safety by 18-year-old Kamar Green.

When The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre arrived on the scene, scores of persons were seen trying to catch a glimpse of the submerged SUV.
