It was a special day for several institutions in St Ann last week Friday as Tingle's Distributors donated several well-needed items to the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital, the Ocho Rios Primary School and the Great Pond Basic School.

The hospital was the largest beneficiary as the company donated a list of items that included two recliner hospice triage chairs, four pairs of

crutches, four baby strollers, two bath chairs, two walkers, a wheelchair and a therapeutic massage bed. The goods are valued at approximately $127,000.

A Hammond piano, a desk and a filing cabinet were donated to the Ocho Rios Primary School while Great Pond Basic received a table-top refrigerator and two picnic benches.

"We are a company that cares for the community and so we decided to show our gift of love to the St Ann's Bay Hospital by donating these items," said Juline Henry, executive assistant and head of accounts and operations at Tingle's, as she spoke to Rural Xpress at the first stop.

"We hope these items will offer a more comfortable stay to patients at the hospital."

It was not the first time that Tingle's was assisting the hospital. Last year, the company helped with a walkathon that was held to raise funds for the physiotherapy department.

The latest contribution will go a far way in helping the hospital to offer their clients better service, acting CEO Bentley Steer said at the handover, which took place at the hospital. Steer expressed appreciation for the items.

Member of Parliament for North East St Ann, Shahine Robinson, who brought greetings, commended Tingle's for the donation. She also took the opportunity to appeal to corporate Jamaica to follow the example and come to the assistance of the hospital.

Mayor of St Ann's Bay, Desmond Gilmore, joined Robinson in appealing for help for the hospital.

At Ocho Rios Primary, Principal Gertrude McFarlane expressed much joy for the piano, as the one the school owned previously has been in a state of disrepair for a while.

She said the instrument will assist the students as they go for more medals in Jamaica Cultural Development Commission competitions, having won several over the years.

Meanwhile, at Great Pond Basic, a grateful Principal Sandra Bailey-Gordon, after receiving the items, told Tingle's representatives, Sanya Walters and Shaunalee Miller: "Thank you so much, you have made our day."

Tingle's Distributors is located in the community of Great Pond, Ocho Rios.

The company distributes Liquid Nitro energy drink and, through its subsidiary, T and T Liquidators, sells a wide range of items for business, and the home.
