Refreshing change for Mount Rosser residents, consistent piped water

For the first time in decades, consistent piped water is now available to residents of several communities in the Mount Rosser area of St Catherine.

This after the National Water Commission’s (NWC) Ivy Road Tank and Pumping Station was commissioned into service yesterday by Water Minister Robert Pickersgill.

The NWC says the facility will provide consistent piped water to residents of Mount Rosser, Ewarton, Polly Ground, Tucker Road, Coghiel Road, parts of Lopez Heights and surrounding areas.

According to the NWC, the project was completed at a cost of approximately $500 million and included network re-design, repair and replacement of sections of the distribution network and repairs to existing storage tanks.

Speaking after the new station was put into service; Pickersgill told residents that supplying water to the area has been especially difficult because of the elevation and the unavailability of raw water resources in the area.
