Public sector wage talks smooth so far - finance minister
Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips says wage negotiations with public sector employees are proceeding in good faith.
Phillips notes, however, that most of the discussions so far have been centred on clarifying issues.
He says following this the finance ministry will sit down with key public sector groups and engage in discussions on their wage claim.
He says the government hopes to conclude the negotiations by March 31 in time for the start of the new fiscal year.
Speaking during a press conference earlier this month, the finance minister announced that provisions have been made in the 2015-2016 Budget for an increase of about 3.4 per cent in salaries for public sector workers.
