Senior Officer from Tax Administration of Jamaica Among Three Arrested by MOCA

As the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) continues to tackle corruption in the public sector, three men including a senior Collector of Taxes were arrested on Friday, during an operation in St Thomas and the Corporate Area, in relation to irregularities of the issuing of driver's licences and other documents.

The operation was another phase in the multi-agency probe into irregularities by which persons are granted driver's licences and other documents. In several cases examined, the correct procedures were not adhered to and the licences were approved under questionable circumstances.

Three persons have been arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act and Forgery, and will now be questioned in the presence of their attorneys as the investigation continues.

MOCA is reminding members of the public who may have any information that could assist in any investigation to call MOCA at 275-5903 or 906-6318 or 1-800-CORRUPT or by email at moca@jcf.gov.jm
