INDECOM records 16 security force related fatalities for 2015
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is reporting that in the first two months of the year it recorded 16 cases of fatal shootings by members of the security forces.
INDECOM says last month there were two security force-related fatalities, while 14 incidents were recorded in January.
The investigative agency notes that the figures for both months represent a decrease when compared to data from 2014.
It points out that in January 2014 it recorded 22 deaths and 15 fatalities the following month.
Meanwhile, INDECOM says since the start of the year it has also recorded two deaths at correctional facilities and 12 non-fatal shooting incidents involving the security forces.
