The St Thomas police say they are pursuing a second suspect linked to the murder of 14-year-old Donald Quarrie student, Kayalicia Simpson.

Acting commander for the parish, Deputy Superintendent, Beresford Williams says the police cannot release the identity of the man.

Yesterday, the police detained one man in relation to the murder of the student.

His identity has also not been released.

Meanwhile, DSP Williams says the autopsy for slain 14-year-old is set to be carried out tomorrow.

The autopsy has been delayed because of a backlog of autopsies in homicide cases in the parish.

Kayalicia was murdered on Tuesday morning at her home in the Newlands Housing Scheme, St Thomas.

According to police reports her body had several chop wounds.

The murder resulted in nationwide condemnation and calls for increased efforts to secure women and children.
