Crime levels cause US embassy to issue advisory
A spate of crimes since the start of the year has caused the United States Embassy in Kingston to issue an advisory to Americans visiting and residing in the Jamaica.
The advisory, which was posted on the Embassy’s website yesterday, informs Americans to of a need for caution and awareness of personal security on the island.
The Embassy says statistics prepared by Jamaican law enforcement authorities show that crime levels have increased across the country in the early months of 2015.
It says homicides are up 18 per cent and robberies up 10 per cent over the previous year’s rates.
