Excelsior student among three killed in early-morning blaze, police release names

Three teens are now dead following a fire at their home in Hopeful Village in South St Andrew last night.

They have been identified as nine-year-old Abbigale Reid, who was a student at the Iris Gelly Primary School and 15-year-old Leonardo Morris, who attended Excelsior High. 

Eighteen-year-old Bebbeto Harris who attended Tarrant High, was also killed in the fire.

According to reports, shortly before one this morning neighbors heard calls for help coming from the house.

An alarm was raised and several persons from the community attempted to rescue the teens but were unsuccessful.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emeleo Ebanks says a team was dispatched to the fire.

However, he says it was too late to rescue the teens.

Ebanks says an investigative team from the brigade is currently on the scene.

However, he notes that it will be difficult to determine the cause of the blaze due to the extent of the damage.
