Jamaicans letting politicians off the hook - Holness
Jamaica Labour Party leader, Andrew Holness, has declared that persons who stay away from the political process are releasing politicians of the responsibility to be accountable.
He was speaking during a forum on Wednesday put on by the party’s youth arm, Young Jamaica in Swallowfield, St Andrew.
Holness noted that many people do not believe that politics can make their lives better.
However, he argued that when this happens it perpetuates poor performance by politicians:
Holness said the right to vote is the most powerful tool Jamaicans have for improving their circumstances.
And he is encouraging those not yet enumerated to ensure that they make every effort to get registered to vote.
March 31 is the last date for registering to be included on the next voters’ list to be released by the Electoral Office of Jamaica.
