Former Gov't Senator Basil Waite trial set for May

Former Government Senator Basil Waite is to go on trial for corruption on May 5.

The date was set when Waite appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Waite’s bail was further extended.

The former government senator is charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He is being accused of trying to influence a matter that was before the court.

Waite has denied the allegation.
