The trial of businesswoman Hermalinda Parker, who is charged with trafficking in persons, began yesterday in the Home Circuit Court.

She is jointly charged with her husband Anthony, and her daughter, Lynn Scantlebury.

The trial is being heard in camera by Justice Jennifer Straw and a seven-member jury.

The Crown is alleging that young girls were recruited from abroad and forced to work at a nightclub operated by the woman.

Hermalinda is the former owner of the Latin Movement Nightclub at Dunrobin Plaza in St Andrew.
