Arnett Gardens fire victims to get help, assessment being done
The government and private sector stakeholders are now conducting an assessment to determine the extent of the assistance required by victims of last Friday’s fire that claimed the lives of three siblings in Arnett Gardens, St Andrew.
This disclosure came yesterday as Member of Parliament for the area Dr Omar Davies and other government officials toured the community along with representatives of Carib Cement Company and Tropicair Limited.
Nine-year-old Abigail Reid and her brothers, 15-year-old Leonardo Morris and 18-year-old Bebeto Harris, were killed after the fire destroyed their home in the informal settlement scheme known as Hopeful Village.
Dr Davies, who is also Minister of Transport, Works and Housing, says the level of assistance to be provided for one set of persons who lost their belongings in the fire has already been decided on.
And he says the level of assistance that will be provided for the remaining persons are being finalised.
