The Education Minister Ronnie Thwaites has disclosed that the sitting of the Grade-Six Achievement Test has been pushed back by one week because of the fire at the Riverton City dump.

The fire has been causing smoke which has been affecting sections of the Corporate Area. and forced the closure of some schools.

The GSAT sitting is now scheduled for March 26 and 27.

Thwaites, was speaking at a press conference underway to provide an update on the situation at the Riverton City dump in Kingston which has been on fire since last Wednesday, forcing the closure of some schools and businesses.

The minister said the postponement would allow for fairness for all students to sit the GSAT.

He has also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling and said, however, that the date of the release of the results will not be affected.
