The police are reporting that one man has been taken into custody in connection with the murder of police constable Collin Raynor on Saturday in St Catherine.

Meanwhile, the police continue to appeal for anyone with information that can assist their investigations to make contact with them.

The police have not disclosed a possible motive for the killing.

However, The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre understands that constable Raynor may have been receiving threats over a period of time leading up to his death.

The nature of the threats is not clear.

In a post on his Facebook page, constable Raynor acknowledged a threat and said he is not worried because God is his guide.

The cop was shot dead in the community of Hartlands in Spanish Town.

The police say he was at a pond with his brother, when armed men approached them and shot them several times before they fled the scene.

Both men were later taken to hospital where constable Raynor was pronounced dead and his brother admitted in serious condition.
