The Director General of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, Major Clive Davis, is at this hour briefing the Cabinet on the efforts to extinguish the Riverton City dump in St Andrew.

However Davis says significant progress has been made over night into this morning with more tipper trucks, and equipment used to help contain the blaze.

He said the fire is now contained to the south of the landfill.

The Gleaner has obtained photos from the Jamaica Information Service showing the section of the dump where the blaze has been contained.
