Crime Stop offers $50,000 reward for information on Riverton arsonist

KINGSTON, Jamaica: Crime Stop Jamaica is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for setting fires at Riverton City dump.

Crime Stop says people may call 311 and they don’t have to give their names.

It is also seeking to assure that the information will be kept confidential.

Information may also be sent to Crime Stop online on www.crimestopjamaica.com .

"In the 25 years since Crime Stop was launched, no one has ever been compromised by calling Crime Stop," said a spokesperson for Crime Stop in a release this afternoon.

In the meantime, Crime Stop says in the first two months of this year, seven illegal firearms have been recovered through tips it received.

In addition, it says 13 arrests have been made for several crimes, including illegal gambling relating to the fraudulent selling of 'Cash Pot', the illegal sale of petrol, illegal electricity connections, uncustomed goods, murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

Crime Stop also says it has seen an increase in the number of calls and success in arrests.
