PM's Budget presentation today, commentators demand concrete strategies
There are calls this morning for Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to outline to the country concrete strategies to grow the economy and to curb crime when she makes her contribution in the Budget debate in Parliament today.
Public commentator Richard Crawford and head of the powerful Jamaica Civil Service Association, O’Neil Grant say Jamaicans want to hear from the prime minister how she plans to better their lives.
Grant says Simpson Miller must outline how corruption will be addressed.
For his part, Crawford says the prime minister needs to tell the country what her government plans to do about the spate of sexual violence across the country.
Noting that there have been recent several incidents of deaths linked to law enforcement and ganja usage, the public commentator says Simpson Miller must also address this growing public concern.
And he says the prime minister must tell the country of plans to fix the issues at the Riverton disposal site as well as outcomes of promised growth projects.
