The Opposition Leader Andrew Holness has released a statement saying the ruling of the Court of Appeal in the Senate seat saga has now closed the matter and the focus should now be turned to the business of the people.

Holness today failed in his attempt to overturn a ruling by the Constitutional Court that he breached the Constitution in the removal of senators Arthur Williams and Dr Christopher Tufton in 2013.

Holness had challenged the ruling that he was wrong when he used undated, pre-signed resignation letters to remove Dr Christopher Tufton and Arthur Williams from the Senate in November 2013.

Today the Appeals Court said Tufton and Williams should retake their seats.

The recent ruling of the Constitutional Court gave rise to a public controversy.

As a consequence, I sought the advice of a team of highly qualified lawyers experienced in Constitutional/Parliamentary matters.

As a result of their advice and the need to bring clarity to the issues at hand, I filed an appeal.

The Court of Appeal having now handed down its decision, closure has been brought to the legal issues.

This will now enable the Party to focus its full attention on the business of the people.
