Arthur Williams and Dr Christopher Tufton are expected to know today if they can continue to sit in the Senate.

The Court of Appeal is expected to hand down its judgment in the appeal filed by the Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Holness, who is seeking to have a decision of the Constitutional Court overturned.

The ruling is expected to be handed down this afternoon.

Last month, the constitutional court ruled that Holness breached the constitution when he used pre-signed, undated resignation letters to remove Williams and Dr Tufton from the Senate in November 2013.

The court also declared the resignations null and void.

However, the opposition leader disagreed with the ruling and filed an appeal.

Holness contended, among other things, that the court erred in facts and law.

And the Clerk to the Houses of Parliament, Heather Cooke, has filed an application in the Supreme Court asking for a determination on whether Williams and Dr Tufton are still Senators.

However, the application was put on hold pending the outcome of Holness’ appeal.
