Alleged cattled thief chopped and beaten in Trelawny
The police in Trelawny are yet to identify a man who was allegedly chopped and killed by a mob in Pantry Pond.
The man was accused of being a praedial thief.
It is reported that late Wednesday afternoon three men went into the area and attempted to steal cattle.
The alleged thieves were spotted by residents, who raised an alarm.
A mob subsequently developed.
Two of the men reportedly fled on foot,
The third man was accosted by residents, severely beaten and pelted with stones.
The man subsequently died of his injuries.
The Pantry Pond area has been suffering from praedial thieves with many residents expressing frustration at the loss of their farm produce and animals.
