Police: 'Nothing threatening' found in bag thrown onto US Embassy compound

The suspect being accosted by police personnel and security officers at the United States Embassy in Kingston.

The police are reporting "nothing threatening" was found in the bag thrown over the perimeter wall onto the compound of the United States Embassy in Kingston this morning.

The man has since been taken into custody.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake, says the security forces followed standard operating procedure in responding to the incident.

He was speaking at a Jamaica House Press Briefing a short while ago.

The suspect, who is Caucasian with an American accent, is now being questioned.

Meanwhile, Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy, Joshua Polacheck, says the embassy will assist the police in their investigations.
