Increased military activity in Kingston air space as Obama visit approaches

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says starting today members of the public should expect to see increased activities by some of its military aircraft across the Kingston Metropolitan Area.

The JDF says persons should not be alarmed as this is part of the planned visit of US President Barack Obama and other Heads of State.

The increased aerial activities are expected to continue until Friday and JDF Civil Military Cooperation Officer Major Basil Jarrett says they are being coordinated and monitored by the army and the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA).

Jarrett says members of the public who have concerns about the activities of these military aircraft should call the JDF Joint Information and Operations Centre at 960-8776.

He also reminded operators of unmanned aerial vehicles and remotely piloted aerial systems to ensure that they coordinate their use with the JCAA to avoid any hazard they may cause.
