The driver of a Coaster bus which crashed, and seriously injured 16 people in Duncans, Trelawny, remains in police custody this morning.

The man, who reportedly fled the scene after yesterday afternoon's incident, was arrested by the Duncan's Police.

About 16 people were taken to hospital, many with serious injuries after the bus traveling from Kingston to Negril crashed along the North Coast Highway.

They were taken to the Falmouth Hospital, but about eight were transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James.

Some of the injured reportedly lost limbs, while others suffered broken bones.

Passengers, who spoke with The Gleaner/Power 106 News team, said loud music was being played in the bus when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip on its side before ending up on its top along the North Coast Highway.
