Monday, March 30 saw the official launch of the book titled Competing Against Multinationals in Emerging Markets, by Professor Densil Williams, executive director of the Mona School of Business and Management and professor of international business.

Governor General Sir Patrick Allen was patron of the event while Don Wehby, CEO of GraceKennedy, was guest speaker.

Williams' book was motivated by an initiative spearheaded by the Hendricksons of National Bakery, producers of breads, pastries, biscuits and buns. The initiative called The Bold Ones: New Champions of Manufacturing, showcases the work of new entrepreneurs, who are engaged in the production of goods for domestic and export consumption.

The book hopes to make a modest contribution to the reader's understanding of the factors that generally drive business success in the small firm. More importantly, it will better help the reader to understand the drivers of not only survival, but prosperity, of these small firms with direct evidence from the owners of their enterprises. It will share persons' rich life experiences and provide insights into the processes and changes over time that have led to their current state.
