Bartlett welcomes move by Obama to take Cuba off Terror watch list
Opposition Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Trade Edmund Barttlet is commending moves by United States President Barack Obama to rescind Cuba's State Sponsor of Terrorism designation.
Yesterday the White House announced that Obama has submitted the required reports and certifications to Congress and has indicated his intent to take Cuba off the list.
Bartlett says President Obama's actions will further normalise relations between the two countries.
Bartlett also says the move provides an opportunity for greater corporation among countries of the Northern Caribbean.
He was speaking with The Gleaner/Power 106 News Center yesterday.
Cuba was designated a state sponsor of terror in 1982 because of what the White House said was its efforts "to promote armed revolution by organisations that used terrorism."
