JLP Selection Committee to discuss Mair seat dispute

Published:Friday | April 17, 2015 | 9:25 AM

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) General Secretary, Dr Horace Chang says Sharon Hay Webster's application to run for Gregory Mair's North East St Catherine seat will be discussed at the party's next Selection Committee.

Mair had written to the party's leadership complaining that Hay Webster was campaigning in his constituency.

Hay Webster admitted to applying to run for the seat.

However, she denied the campaigning allegations, noting instead that she was visiting relatives in the constituency.

The disagreement prompted Opposition Leader Andrew Holness to meet with both parties yesterday.

The General Secretary says following that meeting a decision was taken that the constituted arms of the Party will settle all issues related to the constituency.

Chang says all issues will be resolved internally in line with the rules of the Party.
