Body of newborn found at Riverton City landfill

The body of a newborn male child was found among the rubble at the Riverton City landfill in St Andrew yesterday.

Up to news time, the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit said the child was still unidentified.

According to the Seaview Gardens Police, the body was found shortly after midday by residents who were searching through the rubble at the dump.

The police say they were summoned and the child taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them to contact the Seaview Gardens Police at 901-9423, police emergency number 119 or the nearest police station.
