Children's Registrar says story of St Elizabeth baby found dead in barrel troubling
Children’s Registrar, Greig Smith, says he finds troubling, the story surrounding how one-year-old Jaydeen Myers was found dead in a barrel at her home in St Elizabeth yesterday.
It is reported that the baby’s mother was preparing to give him a bath but got distracted by other children.
During that time, the toddler went missing and was unaccounted for five hours until a family member found her lifeless in a barrel while searching for food.
The police were not clear on whether a search was launched.
However, in a statement this morning, the Children’s Registrar said the story is troubling.
Smith is urging anyone with information relating to the case to share it with the police.
Meanwhile, he is urging parents and caregivers to ensure adequate supervision of every child in their care and all times.
