Two transport lobby groups are calling for the Transport Authority to stop seizing Coaster buses that pick up and set down passengers in the Kingston Metropolitan and Transport Region (KMTR).

The Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services and the Jamaica Association of Transport Owners and Operators (JATOO) have issued the call.

They have also called for the intervention of Minister of Transport, Dr Omar Davies and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.

President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, Egeton Newman, says the issue of operating in the KMTR is before the courts and the Transport Authority should allow the matter to be ruled on.

According to him, in the last five days, 30 Coaster buses have been seized.

He says Coaster buses are being seized to give the Jamaica Urban Company a monopoly in transporting public passengers in the KMTR.
