Police imposter Derrick Thompson is to be sentenced on May 22 after pleading guilty to obtaining money by false pretence and impersonating a police officer.

The 57-year-old man pleaded guilty to the offences on Monday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The court was told that Thompson, who was on bail for the same offence, was spotted by detectives from MOCA interviewing a motorist on Dukharan Avenue in the Kingston 10 area.

Following checks, it was revealed that Thompson was warning the motorist for prosecution for breaches of the Road Traffic Act and had fleeced two other motorists of sums of money earlier that day.

He was immediately arrested and charged.
