St Thomas man accused of killing pregnant teen remanded
The St Thomas man charged with the murder of pregnant schoolgirl Kayalicia Simpson has been remanded.
Twenty-nine-year-old Damion Ewin, a bus conductor of Newlands, St Thomas was denied bail when he appeared in the Morant Bay Resident Magistrate's court yesterday.
Ewin is charged with murder and having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16 years.
He was ordered to return to court on May 20.
On the morning of February 3, the body of the 14-year-old former Donald Quarrie High School student was found with chop wounds at her home.
An autopsy revealed that she was five months pregnant.
Ewin, who had an intimate relationship with a relative of Kayalicia, is said to have had sexual contact with the child on three separate occasions.
