Will new NSWMA board re-engage Jennifer Edwards?
The new chairman of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) Dennis Chung has reserved comments as to whether the former executive director Jennifer Edwards would be re-engaged under his stewardship.
Contacted last night, Chung said he could not make any pronouncements on the matter as the new board has not yet had its first meeting.
He could not say when the new board would meet.
Chung replaces Steve Ashley as the chairman of the solid waste disposal agency.
Ashley was forced to resign after the Local Government Minister said he has lost confidence in his handling of the separation of Jennifer Edwards in the midst of the worst-ever fire at the Riverton City dump.
Edwards had gone to court seeking to bar the appointment of a new executive director but later withdrew the application.
Meanwhile, Chung says the priority of the new NSWMA board will be to improve governance.
The other members of the new NSWMA board are: vice-chairman Conrad Douglas; environmentalist, Bevon Morrison; businessman, Butch Hendrickson; Oral Rainford; Pershell Williams and Trevor Francis.
