The Jamaica Fire Brigade is warning persons not to light  open fires.

Public Relations Officer at the Brigade, Emilio Ebanks says  the country is currently experiencing dry conditions which could cause fires to spread rapidly.

Jamaica Fire Brigade, Public Relations Officer Emilio Ebanks.

The brigade had to respond to several fires in the corporate area last night.

Ebanks says six separate bush fires were reported in Upper St Andrew and another was reported in the vicinity of the May Pen Cemetery in Kingston.

Speaking to The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre last night, Ebanks said it was too early to definitively state the cause of the fires.

However, he said the dry conditions currently affecting the island likely contributed to the blaze.
