UPDATE: How a St Ann cop shot his colleague before killing himself
It seemed accidental, said one patron who was at a bar in White River, near Ocho Rios St Ann, where a constable was this morning shot by his colleague before he killed himself.
"They were playing with something they shouldn’t be playing with and one got shot," the patron said, in reference to a firearm.
According to the patron, the wounded constable was put in a vehicle and, accompanied by several persons including his friend and co-worker, rushed to the St Ann’s Bay hospital.
"I heard that when he (the other cop) realised that his friend had died, he shot himself," the patron added.
It is unclear where the second shooting occurred.
It is also unclear if the firearm involved in the incident was a service weapon.
The first shooting happened around 3 o’clock Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent Steve Brown, the officer in charge of the St Ann Police, has declined to give details, saying the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Senior officers were this morning meeting about the incident at the St Ann Police Headquarters in St Ann’s Bay.
