Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is calling for all Jamaicans to adopt a unified approach this Labour Day to protect and preserve the lives of children.

The Prime Minister made the call today during her keynote address at the launch of Labour 2015 at Jamaica House.

This year, the holiday will be observed under the theme 'Labour of Love: Nurturing Our Children.

The Prime Minister say that Labour Day 2015 gives focus to the need to protect children, who are increasingly becoming targets for abuse and murder.

According to Simpson Miller, the theme highlights the need for a collective approach that the nation must take to safeguard children.

Communities across Jamaica are being urged to focus on creating safer, cleaner, inspiring and fun spaces for children to thrive and grow into productive adults.

The National Labour Day Planning Committee has selected the heavily used Rudolph Elder Park in Morant Bay, St Thomas as the site for the National Project.

The Prime Minister says the project will also be used salute the memory of National Hero, Paul Bogle as 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the 1865 Morant Bay rebellion.
