Alleged cell site thief nabbed in Clarendon
The May Pen police have taken a man into custody following the theft of several batteries from a Digicel cell site in Palmer's Cross, Clarendon.
The police allege that the man was held with four batteries which he intended to take to a scrap yard to sell.
They say further checks revealed that he had previously sold four of the same batteries to the same scrap yard.
The police are theorising that the perpetrator may have already stolen approximately eight batteries from the cell site.
A representative from Digicel identified the batteries as the property of the telecoms firm.
The rep who declined to be identified said a total of 16 batteries have been stolen from the Palmers Cross cell site in the past week.
