Hanna chastises Jamaicans for not helping children enough
Youth minister Lisa Hanna has chastised Jamaicans for not doing enough to ensure those who commit crimes against children are brought to justice.
Making her contribution to the sectoral debate in the House of Representatives this afternoon, Hanna said the Government has been doing its part by putting in place the necessary legislation to protect children.
She says the authorities have made inroads in the trafficking of children, rescuing more than 20 girls.
However, Hanna says adults are failing Jamaican children by refusing to cooperate with police investigations.
She says the youth ministry is spearheading a national plan of action for an integrated response to children and violence this year.
She is also urging Jamaicans to use the 1-888-PROTECT hotline to get involved with helping abused children.
