J.C. Hutchinson says the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), was facing a certain defeat if Gregory Myers was not replaced as the representative for the Southfield Division.

Myers, who is the councillor for the division, confirmed this morning that he will be switching to the People’s National Party.

Hutchinson, the JLP’s member responsible for the Area Council 4 in which the Southfield Division falls says Myers was not performing well as a councillor.

He says Myers was told to improve his image based on the poor results from a July poll done last year.

However, Hutchinson says the councillor did not and was recently challenged and lost.

Hutchinson is also rejecting criticisms from Myers about a breakdown of leadership in the Area Council.

Albert Williams is the party’s representative for the upcoming local government elections.
