Spanish Town market space issue getting needed attention

Mayor of Spanish Town Norman Scott says the parish council is looking at its options to satisfy the demand for vending spaces at the Spanish Town market.

Mayor Scott says there is widespread overcrowding in the market and the council is trying its best to address the problem.

He says the council had sought the help of the European Union to get funding to expand the market, but that did not materialise.

The Spanish Town Mayor says one of the options being looked at is using the present structure as a ground provision and meat market and relocating the dry goods section to another location.

According to him, the Spanish Town market has been a good revenue earner for the parish council.

He says fixing the problems at the market will serve to increase inflows.
