Fire brigade making progress in controlling bush fires - Superintendent Martin

The Jamaica Fire Brigade says it continues to make significant progress in extinguishing bush fires in East Rural St Andrew.

According to Divisional Commander for Kingston and St Andrew, Superintendent Sean Martin, the majority of the fires are under control.

Superintendent Martin says another aerial assessment is to be conducted today to get a better picture of the situation.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Martin says quick action yesterday eliminated the risk of a possible loss to life and property after a fire left some residents marooned.

He says a massive operation was launched to bring the blaze under control and remove residents from the unsafe situation.
