Man dies after bike crashes into tree
A motorcycle crash this morning claimed the life of 24-year-old Delroy Williams of Bounty Hall, Trelawny.
Reports are that Williams was riding along the roadway in his community about 11 o' clock when he lost control of the bike and crashed into a tree. He died instantly.
Eight people have now died in seven motor vehicle crashes since the start of the month. National Road Safety Council data indicates that this is a 20 per cent reduction when compared with the 10 road deaths recorded for the first half of May last year.
Last month, 32 people were killed in 30 motor vehicle crashes.
However, overall statistics show that since the start of the year, road fatalities have increased 10 per cent when compared with the corresponding period last year.
The latest count shows 134 deaths in 122 motor vehicle crashes, 14 more fatalities than was recorded for the corresponding period last year.
