Amid an increase in crimes committed against children and the government's promise to address the growing issue, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is scheduled to address the nation in a televised broadcast this evening.
The prime minister's broadcast is slated for 7:00.
Nearly 30 children have been killed since the start of the year and many others raped and carnally and physically abused.
During her national broadcast, Prime Minister Simpson Miller is expected to shed more light on her announced campaign across the country, scheduled to start on May 28 in Clarendon. She will be hosting several fora to engage residents in child abuse prevention.
The prime minister is also expected to outline what her Government has been doing to protect the nation's children to date and how it plans to strengthen those initiatives.
