About $4 million has been allocated for today's National Labour Day project in St Thomas and the main parish projects across the island.

The funds will be used to improve and upgrade recreational sites, parks and play areas for children in keeping with the theme: "Labour of Love: Nurturing our Children."

According to the Jamaica Information Service, parish councils have received $2 million to assist with the parish projects.

The remainder of the money will go towards rehabilitation of the Rudolph Elder Park in Morant Bay, St Thomas, which has been designated National Labour Day Project this year.
