WESTERN BUREAU‎:

The Accident and Emergency Ward at the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital is now receiving a well-needed facelift thanks to Sandals Whitehouse in collaboration CWJ Credit Union and the New Testament Church of God.

The scope of work includes renovating and painting the ward.

"We are replacing the dry walls and painting the entire ward, in a nice blue colour, changing the ambiance of the place," said
Jervine  Simpson, Public Relations Manger of Sandals Whitehouse.‎

Simpson said Sandals Whitehouse was also donating clothes and linen to the male medical, female medical and children's wards at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the friends of the Westmoreland Infirmary are undertaking a beautification programme at the facility, planting  flowering plants.

The Community  Services Department and Women's  Ministry of Smithfield Seventh-day Adventist Church  presented clothing, toiletries and eggs to the infirmary, which houses 75 residents - 46 men and 29 women.

The Western Chapter of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association is painting pedestrian crossings at seven schools - five in Westmoreland and two in Hanover.

Sandra Moleneaux said the initiative was borne out of need to ensure the safety of children on the roads.
