Jamaican speller drops out of Scripps Spelling Bee in semis
Jamaica's Sara-Beth McPherson has dropped out of the 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in the United States.
The 13-year-old qualified for the semi-finals of the competition yesterday.
McPherson spelt the word A-G-A-R-I-C incorrectly in Round 5 of the competition this morning.
The spelling that she gave was A-G-A-R-I-K.
McPherson was ranked 23 out of 48 spellers going into the on-stage round of the semi-finals today, where the competition continued in the Maryland Ballroom at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
