Two Haitians land in Portland

One of two male Haitians who landed at Hectors River in Portland shortly after

6 a.m. yesterday was being monitored by a health team at the Port Antonio Hospital after undergoing a series of fainting spells.

The two reportedly arrived in a 10-foot canoe and were first spotted by a lone fisherman on the beach area in proximity to a popular spot called Under the Rock.

The police were called in and the men were transported to the hospital to undergo medical treatment and screening.

The police have since commenced an intense search of the area to verify whether other Haitians might have arrived and had eluded them.

According to Superintendent Wayne Cameron, who is in charge of the Portland Division, the relevant agencies have been informed about the arrival of the Haitians.
