Parents urged not to overspend on school leaving ceremonies
Parents are being warned against overspending on school leaving ceremonies at primary schools.
President of the National Parents' Teachers' Association, Everton Hannam, says in many cases the fees are exorbitant and not necessary. He says parents, particularly those cannot afford it, should save the funds to cover their children's high school expenses for the upcoming school year.
He says some primary schools have been demonstrating extortionist-like behaviour in the application of fees.
