The Negril Police in Westmoreland have recaptured a male prisoner who escaped from the Portmore Police lock-up almost three months ago.

Twenty-six-year-old Alton Maxwell, otherwise called ‘Putty Wet’, of Manley Lane, Portmore, St. Catherine was being held on charges of murder and shooting, when he escaped on March 16.

The police say he was found about 4:30 this morning during a raid at premises in West End.

According to the police, a 9mm Taurus pistol with a magazine containing fourteen 9mm cartridges was also found at the premises.

The police say two other persons including a woman were taken into custody; however their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

The police are also appealing to residents not to accommodate criminals because it is an offence to do so.
