Charges are pending against a Police Constable who was allegedly held for taking a bribe in exchange for dropping a case.

The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) says the 26-year-old constable, who is currently on suspension for breaches of the Larceny Act, was accosted during a sting operation on Tuesday.

MOCA says the policeman, who is from the Westmoreland Division, allegedly solicited $400,000 from a woman to drop charges against the father of her children.

MOCA says the matter was reported and an operation set up.

It says the suspended Constable was apprehended while receiving the money.

MOCA says the investigation has also established that he has been on suspension since 2013.
